Shuttleworth Street Farmhouse

This is the original farmhouse that remains from the rural past of Kuraby.

It has this amazing huge triangular shaped roof. I am so pleased that it is designated as one of those heritage structures and cannot be demolished. Every September, the grand old jacaranda tree next to the house bursts into bloom and its beautifully laden purple branches extend far into the blue spring skies, which is visible even from my home, a little distance away.

I wonder who still lives there?

I do see an old car parked in an old shed, and the lights do go on in the evenings. A descendent of the original farming family?

It’s cute that the local streets are named after members of the old family. There’s a Shirley, an Elsie, a Kevin….

I walk past this old farmhouse a lot since I’ve been living in this suburb > 10 years ago. There used to be this huge black and grey striped tabby cat who would sit on tree stumps around the house, but I’m sure this cat must have crossed the rainbow bridge by now.

I would love to see the inside. Wonder how it’s furnished. Would it be really retro? Full of vintage furnishings? Old wallpaper?
